Applying for a Position as a School Principal

You are applying for a position as a school principal ( school in Sacramento, California). You have been asked to submit a leadership presentation prior to your interview for the interview panel’s review. This presentation can be in the form of a written narrative, or powerpoint with detailed notes.

This leadership presentation should highlight your understanding of the district/school’s student achievement, implementation of common core and technology, as well as the hot topic of mental health and its impact on learning. The panel will review your leadership presentation for how you cohesively explain your leadership in these areas above, focused on the demographics and needs of your school site and the district/site mission.

The panel will be comprised of administrators district/site, teachers and parents from the school site. Some important things to note, districts strive for collaboration and work to build unified learning communities, think of questions around student achievement and how you as a leader will promote, nurture and facilitate a healthy learning community. Consider who you are as a leader, as well as the readings from our text and our discussions. Your exploration of the district/school website should align with your leadership philosophy. You want to be able to highlight in your presentation to the panel that you are a good fit for this district/school. Also remember to consider who your faculty will be as you explore the websites. Consider how you will work instructionally with this group of adult learning professionals. Plan for what would be roughly a 15-20 minute presentation if you were to actually present this in person to the panel.
