Topic: using a critical incident approach, critically appraise applicable infection prevention and control
protocols, taking account of contemporary issues and debates in this field.
Should be in essay form…….and in logical progression
Introduction:10-15%( 300-350 words)

Conclusions:10-15%(300-350 words)
Appendix : if applicable

In the introduction: we are to introduce what is going to be discussed.
*Provide a definition of infection prevention and control which will be used for the essay
*Introduce area of infection which is going to be discussed such as particular pathogen. (Will prefer one e.g
noroviruses and not write on the broad term -Health care associated infections)
The main body: any thing else would you want to added in ?
Then needs to critically and comprehensively explore the chain of infection in relation to the area of
infection being discussed.
Also, to note my area of practice is elderly care – I work in a nursing home.
The current/ future issue and debates should be related to pathogen being discussed
Then draw a final conclusion
