Students will design an interview schedule of questions that explores childhood experiences and influences
upon these experiences. The students will respond to the interview questions themselves, and then interview
one other person using the same interview questions. The interviews will be transcribed. Students will
compare, contrast and analyse the two transcripts in light of historical and contemporary perspectives of and
societal influences upon children and childhoods. Interview transcripts should be attached as appendices.
Parts of the transcribed text should be coded to show which parts of the interviews have been compared. The
text of the analysis (1000 words) should make clear references to the analysed interviews.
Structure:
1. Text of analysis with references to own interview and interview with a peer (1000 words).
2. A list of references to relevant literature (use the literature we have read and discussed as much as
possible; where necessary make references to articles you have found independently).
3. Appendices, including a transcript of own interview and a transcript of an interview with a peer.
4. Other appendices if necessary (e.g. images that reflect some childhood memories that help highlight some
of the points made in either of the interviews).
