ESSAY #4: STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS
Assignment Overview: Thinking of the global issue that you are tackling this semester, identify (using the attached matrix discussed by Dr. Fink) who the key stakeholders are and how they are involved. For example, if your topic is on decreasing infant mortality rates in Peru, how can you bring in the World Health Organization, the Peruvian government, local communities, women’s advocacy groups, local hospitals, and even the individual families (both mothers and fathers) to help advocate, educate, and alleviate this wicked problem?
In the essay, explain the role that each of these stakeholders plays in either supporting the alleviation of your wicked problem, or the role they play as obstacles to its resolution. Are there any strengths or resources these actors have that you could use to your benefit in providing solutions? What weaknesses must you be aware of? (For example: bringing in a foreign government’s aid may increase your overall funding, but perhaps the optics of foreign intervention or aid might decrease public support for your project). Make sure you provide clear evidence (scholarship) as you discuss the relative strengths and weaknesses, as well as the challenges and opportunities.
Assignment Requirements: Fill out the worksheet (create a Word document, please do not fill it out by hand!) and identify and evaluate your stakeholders. You will turn in this worksheet along with a 3-5 page essay describing your identified stakeholders and their role.
