It is important to educate members of the community to first understand the crime committed by the offender as well as punishment they faced for committing such crimes.
Statement 2: Sex offenders face enormous challenges when trying to reenter society. People see sex offenders as the “scum of the earth” and the “lowest of the low”. These offenders face death threats decreased job opportunities, and low levels of trust in the community. Though their crimes are heinous, should we treat them so lowly?
