Architecture Walk. Columns, arches, and domes—it’s great to see examples of these architectural features in diagrams or reproductions in your textbook, but
it’s much better to be able to apply these terms to real structures and forms in our lives! Take an architectural tour around campus, downtown, or in your
neighborhood.
Find examples of at least 3 of the following architectural elements, listed below (consult your textbook or the Chapter 2 Architectural Elements PPT, for more
information). Include images, captions, and comments in one document, OR make individual posts for each.
1. Include photos of each element that you find AND provide a caption with: architectural element, name of building (if applicable) and location (campus, city,
etc). – 2 points each (6 points total). Do NOT use the same example as one of your discussion group members.
2. Comment on your findings. What do the specific elements add to the structure? Recall the principles of design. – 3 points each (9 total)
3. Lastly, compare your examples with those of a classmate’s post (2-3 points). Add your own observations of your classmate’s examples (2-3 points). – 5
possible points total.
Please write in complete sentences and be sure to check your grammar and spelling!
Total possible points: 20
6 points for 3 elements with photo and caption – 2 points each
9 points for specific observations about what the elements add – 3 points each
5 points for thoughtful response to 1 classmate and comparison to examples posted by classmate
ACROSS THE POSTS IN YOUR DISCUSSION GROUP TRY TO COVER EACH OF THESE ELEMENTS at least once. Do not use the same example.
