Preparing students to transfer to 4-year institutions
After reviewing student survey data you noticed a pattern of students communicating a
strong intention to continue to a 4-year institution. This was something new, as it had
not stood out significantly in the past. You were encouraged by the community college
president to look into ways of fostering this interest expressed by the students. A year
later you were a key contributor on leading an initiative that formed a clear pathway for
students to transfer to 4-year institutions successfully. The president then asked you to
submit an article to a national higher education news source explaining what was
considered, carried out, and achieved as a result of the initiative.
