With a focus on the role of social work in sustainability, work to develop and present a participatory community-action project proposal focused on addressing an aspect of environmental injustice based on a given case study.
The task involves desk-based research rather than fieldwork, and focuses on the careful planning of action. This task is going to be a speech presentation.
1)critically discussing the link between sustainability and the social work values and concerns with social justice (by drawing on the debates on sustainable development and environmental justice).
– discussing how the community you have selected is affected by this global issue at local level, i.e. analyse the combined current and future risks posed by social inequality and environmental injustice to the community’s health and wellbeing
3) selecting and justifying the participatory and community-based methods you would use to engage the community’s collective voice and strengths, and together, to address the community’s climate vulnerability.
– completing a stakeholder map of the community and of its allies to support the development of action for social and environmental justice. The stakeholder mapping should be critiqued drawing on its interdisciplinary nature.

Main climate risks – flooding, heatwaves, and water shortages. Council declared climate emergency and aims to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions which are 25% higher per person than the UK average
The link above Cambridge is a suggested community that has already been disadvantaged by social inequality –
How is their health and wellbeing affected along their life course by social inequality, and what further impact will climate change and environmental degradation have if no change is enabled?
In what way do they experience environmental injustice?
