Subject: Negotiation Prep
The CEO of a company in YOUR STATE is negotiating an important international business agreement with a manager from YOUR COUNTRY. Because of your familiarity with YOUR COUNTRY, you have been added to the international negotiation team as a cultural specialist. This provides an opportunity for you to show this CEO the quality of your work.
The CEO likes to be well prepared. You have been requested to prepare a short summary of the situation the CEO will face when s/he tries to negotiate this agreement with business people in YOUR COUNTRY.
Your memo should not focus on generic cultural differences. It should focus exclusively on cultural issues that might arise in a negotiation setting.
Identify and overview seven facets of culture that you think would be very critical to a negotiation between a typical US manager and a typical manager from YOUR COUNTRY. Clearly number them and present them in order of importance (as best you can – you are the cultural specialist).
Of the seven facets of culture you overviewed, identify and discuss the facet that you think will be most challenging for the typical person raised in the US. Justify your thinking.

Examine sources and provide your response. Include screen clippings of all source information you use. The image you include should show the name of YOUR COUNTRY and the exact information that supports your response. It should also include a weblink to the specific source information.
Note: This is not a copy and paste exercise. You have very limited space to communicate the critical info your CEO needs to be equipped for the negotiation. An inadequate job will leave the CEO both unprepared and possibly culturally insensitive. It may even sabotage the international business agreement.
