The response provided must include 250 or more words and be written in paragraph form, incorporating
examples from the myths and/or course materials to support your assertions, similar to your Reflections
assignments.
Assignments are graded based on these three parameters, each worth three (3) points for a total of nine (9)
points possible.
Word Count: Elaborations response includes 250 or more words.
Completion and Mastery: Elaborations response addresses all portions of the topic question posed and
demonstrates mastery of the material by including examples from the materials to evidence assertions.
Spelling, Grammar, and Punctuation: Elaborations responses correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Elaborations also include paragraph breaks.
Elaborations responses are assessed on the completeness of the work, the collegiate, analytical manner in
which each is supported with evidence from the mythologies and/or course materials to support your
assertions.
Please note that the instructor reserves the right to assign a zero (0) grade for this assignment or
assignment section if she deems that the student’s work has not met the minimum grading requirements.
All of the information you need to successfully complete this Elaborations assignment is provided in our
course and the assigned readings.
Please do use your course materials to complete your responses.
No outside unapproved sources may be used to complete this assignment.
Please review the course MLA formatting information within the Class Resources section of our course
that demonstrates exactly how to format your inclusion of in-text parenthetical citations.
At all times, if you quote materials, you must cite them! Not citing quoted materials is plagiarism, a
serious collegiate office.
Please answer the following question directly in the text box provided.
Make certain to compose your Elaborations in a word processing document first so that you are able to
determine the required word count and correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Questions:
What similarities or differences do you find in the family dynamics of the Greek Ouranos (Heaven) and
Gaia (Earth) in relation to those of the Babylonian Tiamat and Apsu?
Also, what are your thoughts about these family dynamics? What do you think these mythic details
communicate to these cultures about family?
What examples from both mythologies support your assertions?
